Ad Hoc Meeting Organized by the UK Chair of the MDG, the Finish Presidency of the EU, UNODC and UNAMA on "Political and Security Developments in Afghanistan, the Situation of Controls at Iran Eastern Borders and Regional Trends in Drug Trafficking"

The Finnish Presidency of the European Union (EU), the UK Mini Dublin Group (MDG) Chairmanship in Iran, UNAMA and UNODC organized jointly the meeting on 24 September. A total of 24 representatives from the Mini Dublin Group (MDG) and European Union (EU) member Embassies, including the Ambassadors of Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Slovak Republic, and Switzerland, took part in the initiative.

The meeting was aimed at briefing the donor community on security and political developments in Afghanistan; drug trafficking trends in the I.R. of Iran and in the region and the status of UNODC projects under Drug Supply Reduction Section. The participants were also briefed on the joint DCHQ/UNODC and UNAMA initiative to organize a visit to the eastern borders of Iran for ambassadors of MDG/EU countries.
