Border Visit Jointly Organized by the DCHQ and UNODC for the Ambassadors of MDG/EU Embassies to the Eastern Borders of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Venue:                        Zahedan, Sistan/Baluchestan Province, Islamic Republic of Iran

A visit to the eastern borders of the I.R. of Iran was organized for the MDG/EU Ambassadors by the Drug Control Headquarters (DCHQ) and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) from 13 to 14 November 2006. 24 representatives from 21 countries participated in this event, compromising 13 Ambassadors, two Chargé d'Affaires, two Drug Liaison Officers (DLOs), and six other diplomats, the UN Resident Coordinator, the Head of the UNAMA Liaison Office in Iran, and the Chief of UNODC Europe and West/Central Asia Section. The participants met with Dr Fada Hossein Maaleki, DCHQ Secretary General, Mr Habibollah Dahmardeh, Governor General of Sistan Baluchestan province, Brigadier General Rezaee, Commander of the Anti Narcotics Police Headquarters for Sistan and Baluchestan, Kerman, South Khorasan and Hormozgun provinces, and other senior officials of Sistan/Baluchestan.
