The Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse is a national agency funded by Canada's Drug Strategy to disseminate information on the nature, extent and consequences of substance abuse; support and assist drug abuse treatment, prevention and education programs and promote informed database on substance abuse issues. The site includes information on funding opportunities, publications, databases, statistics, events and special section on youth, women, cannabis and fetal alcohol syndrome.
The Center for Substance Abuse Research at the University of Maryland College Park collects, analyses and disseminates information on the nature and extent of substance abuse and related problems in Maryland and within the United States. The site includes CESAR FAX, a weekly one-page overview of substance abuse issue, a biweekly one-page summary of evaluations of drug treatment programs funded by the U.S. Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, an electronic bulletin board, a substance abuse information clearinghouse and the Maryland Drug early Warning System that tracks substance use trends in the state.
The Colombo Plan was established at the Commonwealth Conference on Foreign Affairs held in Colombo in January 1950, convened to exchange views on the needs of the Countries of Asia, a Consultative Committee was establish to survey needs, assess the resources avail able and required, focus world attention on the problems involved, and provide a frame work within which international cooperation efforts could be promoted to as is the countries of the area to raise their living standards.

Supported by the European Commission Euro-Methwork serves researchers, policy-makers, practitioners and patients interested in methadone for the treatment of opiate addiction. The Methadone Assistance Point (MAP) database provides information about intake criteria, waiting lists, treatment protocols and methadone providers in Europe. An electronic newsletter is available in English, French, German and Spanish. Technical support includes data on establishing methadone programs, training equipment and software.
The European Opiate Addiction Treatment Association (EUROPAD) is the European Society for professionals interested in the development of effective opiate addiction treatment in Europe and elsewhere.

There are links to research and statistics available on the World Wide Web, related organizations, and a calendar of events pertaining to substance abuse.
The U.S. National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) home page includes information on international program activities; drug abuse; publications, including NIDA Notes, the NIDA/INVEST letter, and research monographs; a calendar of events; program announcements; and grant information. The U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) web site provides information about publications, reports, statistics, clearinghouse and grant contract opportunities related to the Centre for Mental Health Services (CMHS), the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), and the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT).
